The twelve Bhavas

Twelve fields of experience

⌂The twelve Bhavas
01

Bhavas describe the fields of life in which planetary patterns are experienced. The first Bhava begins from Lagna and establishes the house framework.

02

The first concerns body, identity and orientation; the second resources, family and speech; the third effort, skills and siblings; the fourth home, inner security and property; the fifth intelligence, creativity and children; the sixth service, obstacles, debts and health routines.

03

The seventh concerns partnership and agreements; the eighth transformation, vulnerability and shared resources; the ninth dharma, teachers and fortune; the tenth action, profession and public responsibility; the eleventh gains, networks and fulfilment of aims; the twelfth expenditure, retreat, foreignness and release.

04

A Bhava is not judged only by planets sitting inside it. Its sign, lord, the lord's placement and condition, aspects upon the house and relevant Karakas all contribute.

05

Bhavas can be grouped in useful ways. Kendras provide structural pillars, Trikonas are associated with purpose and support, Upachayas tend to develop through effort and time, and Dusthanas concentrate difficult or transformative experiences.

06

Never judge an empty house as inactive. Its lord and influences can make an unoccupied Bhava central to a person's life.

07

Good chart reading therefore works as a network rather than a list of isolated placements.
