Nakshatra and Pada

27 lunar mansions · 4 Padas each

☾Nakshatra and Pada
01

The sidereal zodiac is divided into 27 Nakshatras of 13°20′ each, and every Nakshatra is divided into four Padas of 3°20′.

02

The sequence begins with Ashwini and runs through Revati, creating a finer grid beneath the twelve Rashis.

03

Every Nakshatra has a planetary ruler. The rulers repeat in the Vimshottari order Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury.

04

The Moon's birth Nakshatra is especially important because its lord establishes the starting point of the Vimshottari Dasha sequence and the remaining balance depends on the Moon's progress through that Nakshatra.

05

Pada adds a Navamsa-level subdivision and can refine how a Nakshatra manifests. Exact longitude matters because small differences can change a Pada and, with birth-time changes, the Lagna or finer divisional placements.

06

Nakshatra analysis is useful in temperament, timing, compatibility and fine-grained planetary interpretation, but it should enrich rather than replace sign and house analysis.

07

A practical sequence is planet → sign → house → Nakshatra → Pada → dispositors and aspects → timing.
